About
Hi Folks,
After 36 years in the IT industry, I have retired and taken up the craft of making quality furniture and I have set up this site to chronicle and share my experiences.
About 4 years ago, we had a house built in the country. I got the bug when I decided to finish my basement myself. I had never really done any carpentry before, but had helped folks out from time to time …
After the basement was done, I thought the results were quite good, and I decided that I wanted to work with wood as a hobby. My inspiration really comes from the fact that when I do something, I can actually see it … and if I like it, can “leave it behind when I’m gone”. Also, both my father and father-in-law made furniture, and I feel they would now both be impressed with the results so far …
In summer of 2006 I registered for a beginners course at http://www.ecole-ebenisterie.com/ which not only gave me a good start on the basics of making fine furniture, but also allowed me to improve my French.
So for anyone interested, I am now (May 2008) enrolled in the 4th level (niveau 4) of their program, and am in process of creating a Louis XV chess table. Pictures will be posted as I progress … along with my other works …
Let me know what you think …
