Personal Background

Hi Folks,

After 36 years in the IT industry, I have retired and taken up the craft of making quality furniture and I have set up this site to chronicle and share my experiences.

Eight years ago, we had a house built in the country.  I got the creative bug when I decided to finish my basement myself.  I had never really done any carpentry before, but had helped folks out from time to time …

After the basement was done, I thought the results were good (but I can see now how I could have done better!), and I decided that I wanted to work with wood as a hobby.  My inspiration really comes from the fact that when I finish something, I can actually see it … and can “leave it behind when I’m gone”.   

My formal training began in summer of 2006 when I registered for a beginners’ course at http://www.ecole-ebenisterie.com/.   This not only gave me in depth instruction and practice using the fundamental skills for making quality furniture, but also allowed me to improve my French.

Since completing my courses I have focused on high quality custom-made wood furniture, but have also undertaken kitchen and bathroom projects.
